According to one major credit card company, using statistics from 2014, spending on Mothers’ Day was almost $20Billion. In contrast, people splurged only about $12.5Billion on Fathers’ Day. Not bad, but still reflects the lopsided spending. Whether it is mother or father, the Bible teaches us to honour our parents, which means both mothers as well as fathers. With Father’s Day (June 19th, 2016) fast approaching, we like to give everyone an opportunity to write a short note of thanks and appreciation for your dads. In the “Leave a Reply” box, type in the message as follows.

To my dad Doug Liew,
I truly believe that the blessings I’m receiving from God is a large part due to you coming to know Christ and being obedient to Him.
Thank you for your love, providence and discipline in bringing me up. You know that I tend to learn the hard way. And you tend to know what’s best for me at the time whether it was the rod when I was younger or letting me learn it in the real world. I’m my mind, you are blameless and I work on modelling that.
With love, your son,
Kevin

Name of Your Dad(s): Alan Wong, Stephen Wong, Matthew Smith, William Cheung, Jong Heng (Henry) Ho
Your Message:
To my birth dad Alan, I never got to know you well, but out of all the bits of my childhood that I remember, they were all happy memories with you. I lost you to cancer; I lost one father, but God has blessed me with five in return.
1. I got to know God the Father. Had I not come to Canada at a young age, I would have never learned about my Abba Father. For this I thank you.
2. I got to know Uncle Stephen, the uncle who raised me. The uncle who worked hard to make sure I had a roof over my head and food to eat. For this I thank you.
3. Dad Matt, the step dad that tried to give me independence and made my mom happy. For this I thank you.
4. Uncle William, the uncle who introduced me to computers, Internet and games, making me (what used to be) a super rare breed of gamer/nerdy girls, which later helped me attract my husband ;). For this I thank you.
5. My Godfather Henry, the family man. For treating me like one of your daughters and showing me what a wise, humble, funny, and Godly father should be like. For this I thank you.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be praised!
Love,
Rebecca

Name of Your Dad: Thian Keng Lee (aka Uncle Roger)
Your Message:
Thank you for challenging your own cooking skills, so we can all try different cuisines. Thank you for doing things the rest of us don’t want to do, because you don’t want us to overwork ourselves. Thank you for not being afraid to speak your mind. Thank you for teaching me to make different desserts and eating them when I don’t succeed in making them well. Thank you for being you!
